1.1 Introduction
The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2 of 2000 (“the Act”), which came into effect on 9 March 2001, seeks to advance the values of transparency and accountability in Southern Africa. The Act established the following statutory rights of requesters to any record of a private body if the following circumstances are met;
Section 51 of the Act obliges private bodies to compile a Manual. The purpose of the Manual is to assist an individual in obtaining access to records of a private body and the Act stipulated the minimum requirement with which this manual has to comply.
1.2 Scope
This manual (“Manual”) has been prepared on behalf of Premier Hotels & Resorts (PTY) Ltd. It is published in accordance with the requirements of section 51 of the Act and is aimed at facilitating access to records held by Premier Hotels & Resorts in terms of the Act. This manual specifically provides information on the following:

1.4 Access to Routinely Available Information
Premier Hotels & Resorts routinely makes available to the public certain information on its functions and activities. This information will continue to be available without having to make a formal request under the Act.
1.5 Access to Information Act 2 of 2000
The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services has, on 27 August 2021, gazetted the Regulations relating to the Promotion of Access to Information, 2021 (“PAIA Regulations”).
